KM: New Orleans

ET: What do you do?

KM: I teach high school...9th grade. I also do a bit of design consulting on the side. Most importantly, I am Mom to Finn, 20 months.

ET:When did you start shopping at Erica Tanov?
KM: 12 years ago, I was on my honeymoon, I met Jessica and we have been friends ever since! I was also lucky enough to visit her on several buying trips.
Every time we visit New York, that is my first stop!!!

ET: What do you like about shopping at Erica Tanov?
KM: Jessica and Vivian, they are great!!!!!! They know what I like and what looks good on me!!! I think it is one of the most beautiful stores I have ever seen! I also like that the clothes are special and not found at a chain store or mall.

ET:Do you have an all time favorite piece that you wear?
KM: My favorite piece.....that is so hard...I love every piece! The clothes are so beautiful and feminine! I lost all of my clothes to Hurricane Katrina, so Jessica has really helped me build my wardrobe back better than ever!
BUT to answer the question...I would have to say the Lillet drawstring dress. I have 3 of them!

ET: What style(s) have you bought this season?
KM: Lots of neutrals with a few pieces of color thrown in. I'm really into pale colors this season.
This season I have bought from Erica Tanov the Gabriel dress in natural, Maude slip in pale pink petal silk, the Papillon shadow plaid top in ivory, and the Smith seersucker skirt in tan.
From Megan Park this season, I have bought several dresses! I love the vivid pastels.

We were very excited to know that one of our customers, Kim Holden (second from right), wore her Erica Tanov outfit when she was invited to the White House and got to meet Michelle Obama. Kim is a principal at New York based SHoP Architects. They received the very impressive 2009 National Design Award in Architecture given annually by the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt and were honored at the White House with a luncheon attended by Michelle Obama among others. Thanks for sharing this with us, Kim. You looked great!

Fog, a gorgeous store in Tokyo, is setting up temporary shop with us! For the next 3 months we will feature many products that are only available to buy in Japan. Stop by when you can.

about fog:

Yumiko Sekine started her first business in 1993 importing used books and house ware from Europe and America to Japan.
In her search for more products, she could not find affordable every day linens that she had used during her childhood.
She visited Lithuania, a country that grows flax, whose fibers are spun into linen,
and has been producing and exporting linen productsto other European countries since the Middle Ages.
She was disappointed to find that there were no linen products for daily use available in the stores there.
This led her to contact several linen producers and started to have them produce her own product designs in Lithuania.
Her first collection started with only seven items. Now after ten years,
Fog Linen Work produces a large line of linen products for the home and linen clothing.
It's products are leading and defining the natural life style trend in Japan today.
Sekine continues to be inspired to create beautiful simple products for daily use.

I remember the first bag Jessica Moriber ever made. I remember her excitement while describing the thrill of making something with her hands. It was a special moment. I also remember my excitement and shock when her first ever handmade prototype bag was handed over to me as a gift that day. That was four years ago.

Today, the collection has grown and she has honed her skills but each bag still feels as special as if it were her first.
